word on the street for next week

We're greatly honoured and super-excited to work in collaboration with McMaster Against Child Abuse (MACA)! Next week is *Purple Week*, a week created by MACA, to create awareness and raise money to support work against child abuse.
Here's a run down of the week:

Monday Oct 22 - Movie night - we will be viewing "Born into Brothels" which is a touching award winning documentary about children being born and raised in brothels in Calcutta, India It will be from 7pm - 930pm in HSC 1A4 *(Hosted by IJMmac)

Tuesday Oct 23 - Teddy Bear Drive - So any teddy that is new or gently used, or a soft blankie, basically any thing cuddlable that we can donate to a battered women's shelter where women flee their homes with
their children and take refuge in this centre

Wednesday Oct 24 - Bake Sale in student center

Thursday Oct 25 - Purple Day and Conference (in MDCL 1305 from 7pm - 8pm) Purple day is basically we want as many people on campus to wear purple - ANYTHING PURPLE - to show their support for Child Abuse Prevention Month & our conference - is in the evening in MDCL and our guest speaker is Helen Thomas who is a world renowned speaker who will discuss children rights

The whole week and the week before we are going to sell purple ribbons like crazy so look out for us in your classrooms and on campus!

As well we are going to have a Golden Heart which is basially a card board shapped heart that we are going to try to make golden by attaching loonies that people can donate to us.

So this is our week and you can help out lots of ways, for
example:
- telling all your friends about our event and coming out!!
- where purple on thursday!!!!!! (thats a big one)
- wear a purple ribbon and if you would like we can give you a few ribbons and you can distribute it to your friends and ask them for a $1 donation (well we wont say no to more!)

Thanks for your support!
