Event: Human Trafficking is Modern Day Slavery
On February 9th join The Freeway Coffee House as we learn from retired RCMP Superintendent Marty Van Doren about Human Trafficking in Canada and engage in open dialogue on this issue.The evening will include a sixty-minute presentation by Superintendent Van Doren introducing human trafficking, incorporating victim recognition, victim response, human trafficking legislation, and brief overview of prosecuted investigations. In addition to this presentation, we will briefly explore the work being done by the Canadian Council for Refugees and local groups, including a proposal for legislative amendment.
