Just Bake Sale

Get ready for the IJMMac's 2nd Annual Just Bake Sale!! It's all happening, even bigger and better than last year, on Monday, November 24th in the Student Centre from 9:30am until we're sold out! (which was pretty early last year) All the baking will be done with fair trade (and local when possible) products.

In 1792 and 1824, thousands in England boycotted sugar in protest of the British slave trade. The 1824 boycott was so effective (sugar sales went down by a third), that it led to the abolition of slavery in Britain in 1833.
Today, there are an estimated 27 million people living in slavery, and sugar continues to be a commodity acquired through unjust means. Become a modern-day abolitionist: www.notforsalecampaign.org www.ijm.ca

Fair Trade is an alternative approach to conventional international trade which promotes social equity, economic security and sound environmental practices. Its goal is to contribute to sustainable development by improving market access for disadvantaged producers, by raising awareness and campaigning. It works to a set of values and objectives that seek to improve living standards and achieve a fairer distribution of income and influence. It is a partnership between all involved in the trading process -- producers, workers, traders and consumers.
